What to Expect from the Program:

      1. This detox is NOT about starving yourself, surviving on juices or always feeling hungry. This program is about eating plenty of NOURISHING REAL FOODS that are beneficial for your body & health, whilst avoiding foods known to be highly allergenic, inflammatory, harmful & hard-to-digest (like sugar, wheat, dairy, caffeine and alcohol)
      2. 4-weeks on a cleanse may sound scary or too hard (most people feel this way initially), but being this duration means you’ll actually get into a rhythm and experience genuine improvements on your HABITS, HEALTH & WEIGHT
      3. This cleanse is designed to address ALL KEY DETOX ORGANS (NOT just your liver like most other programs): to improve the health of your bowel, liver, kidneys & lymphatic system.
      4. Getting ready for life after the cleanse. I’ll teach you what a sustainable, healthier and balanced approach to living and eating looks like – for the benefit of both you and your family.
      5. The introduction contains general DETOX GUIDELINES to be followed over the four weeks and each week you will have more specific information and tips on how to support those organs for that week, along with recipes and lifestyle tips.
      6. This is a HOLISTIC DETOX. Whilst the focus is on promoting the elimination of toxins from the body, I feel it is also important to look at other external factors that may be affecting your wellbeing and addressing these things as well.
      7. Intolerances or reactions to foods can be identified and ultimately resolved in most cases through using the cleanse as the first essential phase of elimination and gut healing.

Why do a Detox in Spring?

According to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Spring provides the best opportunities for detoxification - to rid the body of toxins that have accumulated over the winter months.  The expansive energy present in Spring helps to move things to the surface and expel some of the body’s burden of toxins in preparation for the high activity of summer. This energy of upward growth toward the sun means emotions and issues stored deep within the past also have an opportunity to be released. Bring it on I say!

In TCM, spring is related to the wood element and to the liver and gall bladder. In this context, the liver is the focus of the spring cleanse. As we detoxify the liver, however, we also need to make sure that other organs of elimination including the blood, lymphatic system, bowels, kidneys and skin – are also well supported. This will help to reduce unwanted side effects of detox including bloating, nausea and headaches.

Toxicity in the body can occur on two basic levels- external and internal. We can acquire toxins from our environment by breathing them, ingesting them or through physical contact with them. On an internal level, our body produces toxins through its normal everyday functions. Biochemical, cellular, and bodily activities generate substances that need to be eliminated. When these substances/molecules/toxins are not eliminated, they can cause irritation or inflammation of the cells and tissues, blocking normal functions on a cellular, organ and whole-body level. The proper level of elimination of these toxins is essential to health. Clearly, a normal functioning body was created to handle certain levels of toxins. The concern is therefore, when we take in more than we can utilize or eliminate.
