When we go to the food market, we are looking for the freshest produce, because we know it tastes the best. It has been proven that from the time the fruit and veg have been picked, it begins to steadily lose its vitality in the flavour, vitamins and minerals that have great healing properties.

It is no different when it comes to tea and herbal blends. Just because it appears dry, it doesn't mean freshness does not apply. There are a number of factors you should consider when picking and storing your tea.

Journey to Cup: Quality ingredients

Make sure the Tea and herbs used are certified organic, wildcrafted or pesticide-free wherever possible. Furthermore, if you can find tea and herbs that are not genetically modified or a hybrid variety.

We have found that tea and organic herb producers know the optimum times within nature’s seasons to plant. The herbs and teas are naturally shade dried without excessive heat.

Packaging & Storage: Ensuring Freshness

Most tea and herbal blends shelf life are around 10-12 months. It is not harmful to have tea after this point, but it has lost most of its flavour and healing benefits. We track the freshness of all our ingredients to ensure the longest shelf life possible for our customers.

The enemies of tea and herbs are air, humidity, light and certain pests! It's important to think about what packaging you have your tea in so that it preserves the freshness as long as possible. The best packages are Tins and Canisters. Jars may display the tea beautifully, however, the light over time can cause discolouration and oxidation to the tea and herbs.
